What It Is
qSQ measures the quality of shots a player generates — given the locations and defensive contests on their shot attempts, what is the expected shooting percentage? A high qSQ means a player consistently creates high-quality looks (open threes, paint touches, uncontested midranges).
APEX Rationale
Not used in APEX. qSQ is tracking-based and not available historically. TS+ adjusts for shot difficulty at a higher level of abstraction and is used in APEX's Scoring pillar.
