Statistical Plus-Minus is a generic term for any plus-minus estimate derived primarily from box score statistics rather than from on/off lineup data. BPM is the most prominent implementation of SPM.
APEX Rationale
BPM is used in APEX and represents the best publicly available implementation of SPM. Using a separate generic SPM alongside BPM would introduce redundancy.
