Naming history

  • Philips Arena 1999-09–2018-08
Original name. Dutch electronics giant Philips signed a 20-year deal at opening but exited early; the company sold its lighting business and dropped most U.S. consumer-facing sponsorships.
  • State Farm Arena 2018-08–present
Insurance giant State Farm took over naming as part of a broader $192.5M arena renovation. Hawks ownership group used the rebrand to reset the venue's identity.

Renovations

  • 2017–2018 $193M
$192.5M modernization. Removed seats from upper bowl to add premium spaces, food halls, and the "Topgolf Swing Suite". Coincided with naming-rights change from Philips Arena to State Farm Arena.
