Naming history

  • FleetCenter 1995-09–2005-07
Original name. Originally announced as Shawmut Center, but Shawmut Bank was acquired by Fleet Financial pre-opening and the venue opened as FleetCenter.
  • TD Banknorth Garden 2005-07–2009-07
Bank of America acquired FleetBoston in 2004 but did not retain naming rights. Canadian-owned TD Banknorth signed a 20-year deal in 2005, restoring "Garden" — a nod to the original Boston Garden (1928–1995).
  • TD Garden 2009-07–present
TD shortened the name after fully absorbing TD Banknorth into the parent TD Bank brand.

Renovations

  • 2018–2019 $100M
Phased $100M+ expansion adding ~50,000 sq ft of premium spaces and the Hub on Causeway entry plaza. New atrium connects directly to North Station transit.
