Naming history

  • CoreStates Center 1996-08–1998-09
    Original 21-year naming deal with Philadelphia-based CoreStates Financial. Lasted only two years before merger.
  • First Union Center 1998-09–2003-09
    First Union acquired CoreStates in 1998 and renamed accordingly. Same pattern would repeat across two more mergers.
  • Wachovia Center 2003-09–2010-07
    Wachovia and First Union merged in 2001; the venue was renamed when the combined bank unified under the Wachovia brand.
  • Wells Fargo Center 2010-07–2024-12
    Wells Fargo acquired Wachovia in the 2008 financial crisis and assumed naming rights. The venue retained Wells Fargo branding through 14 years of NBA and NHL play.
  • Xfinity Mobile Arena 2024-12–present
    Comcast Spectacor (the venue's owner) brought naming in-house, attaching its own Xfinity Mobile brand — ending three decades of bank-merger-driven renames.
