Naming history

  • America West Arena 1992-06–2006-01
Original 30-year deal with America West Airlines (HQ in Tempe, AZ). Cut short by airline merger.
  • US Airways Center 2006-01–2014-12
America West merged with US Airways in 2005; venue rebranded to reflect the surviving brand. US Airways then merged with American Airlines in 2013, but AA did not renew naming.
  • Talking Stick Resort Arena 2015-01–2019-09
Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community's Talking Stick Resort took naming rights — a tribal casino partnership.
  • Phoenix Suns Arena 2019-09–2021-07
No paid naming partner during a brief two-year window between deals; the Suns operated under the team's own name.
  • Footprint Center 2021-07–2025
Sustainable-packaging company Footprint signed a multi-year deal in 2021. Deal lapsed by 2025 amid Footprint's broader business retrenchment.
  • PHX Arena 2025–present
Suns ownership reverted to a team-derived name (PHX is the city's airport code) while sourcing a new commercial partner.

Renovations

  • 2019–2021 $230M
$230M renovation funded by a public-private partnership. New atrium, premium clubs, courtside-level lounges, and full IT/AV overhaul.
